i need to get a new serpentine belt tensioner, went to fcp g. and there are 2 options for auto and manual tranny. what the hell does that have to do with the tensioner?

i have an auto tranny, but the manual tranny one is way cheaper.

will the manual tranny work

PS i also have under drive crank pulley

I've been wondering this myself. I know my tensioner will need to be replaced sometime soon, and noticed that there are 2 different part #s. Not just on FCP, but on Tascavolvo as well.

I'll be ordering from DW volvo next week, so I'll ask when I call.

Are you sure you're not looking at the timing belt "automatic" or "manual" tensioner listed by engine serial number? The serpentine tensioner is one type only. ANd, for the serpentine tensioner i wouldn't be so concerned about where you get it more than how much it costs. If it fails, nothing catastrophic happens. But, Jamie is the best source for OEM parts and prices.

No, as his link showed, there are clearly two different parts for the 850 serp tensioner, although the reason is unclear.

6842019

850 1993-1997 Auto trans up to Eng 121674 (No EGR) 122376 (w/EGR), 93-97 Manual trans

1275380

850 1994-1997 AutoTrans Vin 121675 on(No EGR), Vin 122377 on(w/EGR) AFT

In 1998 they switched to the single style tensioner.

according to vaDIS a 97 turbo has ONE option with AC......... 1275380 is IT.

93-94 showed the earlier 6842019 with a bulletin 21-814 which may be an update to the new style. Either way, 95- IS the 1275380.
