Exhaust Wrap

Anyone here wrapped their exhaust on a Volvo yet?

Picked up the new to us ride yesterday. Said car has the big downpipe/cat and Ferrita exhaust.

On other cars (1920's-40's "hot rods") I've always wrapped the exhaust to reduce exhaust heat and as and added benefit it seemed to take some of the "drone" away at cruising speeds. The drone from the exhaust on the "R" yesterday was tolerable... but I'm a firm believer that there is always room for small improvements. Granted... I'm not certain if the "droning" is coming through the piping from the engine up to the mufflers of from the mufflers themselves.

So I ask you... has anyone here done this yet on your own car?

FWIW... Ferrita makes some dam'n snazzy looking and great sounding exhaust... it'd almost be a shame to cover it all up. <_<

iirc it was discussed a year ago

this is the search tool i use most

http://search.volvospeed.com/

i put in "exhaust wrap" and a bunch of hits came up

yes it's a shame to cover up works of art.

that's why i'm dragging my feet on putting a heat shield on my turbo/mani

it would cover up jon sayre's beauty of a down pipe he built me.

NOTE: I ceramic coated my s60r type exhaust mani and turbo ex housing, too though

im pretty sure ceramic coating works better, and wont cause your metal to rust prematurly as the wrap will.

That's a good point about road salt and slop that you pointed out... "they" use more salt around here in one winter day than a pretzl factory does in a year. Maybe my idea will have to go in the $@#% can... next to other "great ideas" I've had over the years.

Hmmm...? :(
