nolanator
this may seem to good to be true, but i've recently been loosely entertaining the idea of larger turbo with a T04 exhaust flange. could preparing a downpipe for this setup really be as easy as cutting off the td04hl flange and welding the T04 flange in it's place? Why do you want something of this size?

Why do you want something of this size?the reason i'm even venturing into this realm of thought is because i'm building a complete motor, and accidentally won a large garrett turbo on ebay for pretty cheap. ive been talking to ATP Turbos over the last couple days and they have all the necessary flanges and plumbing i need to run this application (if it went that far) i'm brainstorming right now, and if someone wanted this turbo i would actually be extremely happy to rid myself of it and this crazy idea, but it's intriguing right now.here are the flanges:http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=BCShttp://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=BCSand the turbo:zero miles on a rebuild
JHEIII874T5M
Swap the exhaust housing for a .63 trim ford style discharge 5 bolt and that'll be a great turbo. For the exhaust housing connection you have there... you'll need a custom manifold to run the external wastegate setup. EricF
You will need to either 1) Weld an external wastegate pipe and flange precariously off the stock manifold's collector, or 2) Run a custom header with provisions for an external wastegate. That is just in order to get some boost control..Without custom ignition map timing, you're going to have insanely late spool times on top of it all.. Not a practical choice on our engines, especially for a street driven car.Swap the exhaust housing for a .63 trim ford style discharge 5 bolt and that'll be a great turbo. For the exhaust housing connection you have there... you'll need a custom manifold to run the external wastegate setup. That assumes it is a T3 turbine wheel of some sort and not a T4.... There aren't any T4 housings that have a wastegate port.

ATP said it is similar to this: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=TBNi don't know though. i'd be happy with a 19t lolps. if you know where i can find any info on this turbo, lemme know...google's not wanting to help me muchSwap the exhaust housing for a .63 trim ford style discharge 5 bolt and that'll be a great turbo. For the exhaust housing connection you have there... you'll need a custom manifold to run the external wastegate setup.like this??http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=BCS
nolanator
ps. with turbotuner and their ignition timing options, i was hoping to bypass those issues. i'm not sure of the extent TT allows remapping but it was a thought
johnloves850's
how much did you get that for, if you don't mind me asking?yea the only thing I wouldn't want to tackle with this is the external wastegateother than that it's a sweet idea for bigger numbers on the top endthese are kind of known for slow spool timemy dad has one on his 96' f250 stroker, with the 7.3 turbo dieselit spools extremely late, but holds it like a champjust giving some input lol
