OEM gapped @ .028" running 23-25psi, no blowout.

If you close the gap (to say .024"), be prepared to get sooting, unless you drive like a racer all the time. It will be less efficient in normal driving.

Interesting, didn't know that. :(

i installed the new ecu yesterday and now i get simillar kind of "blockage" unless i get off the accelerator and then floor it again. i dont get the code anymore and it runs at higher boost.

Did you adjust your wastegate? That sounds like the problem I was having when I had it set too tight. Take 5 min to adjust, I'd check it before taking more drastic action ;)

+1 Use a pressure tester and set it to begin opening in the 4/5 psi area....I've confirmed with several reliable sources that this is a safe setting for our LPT motors mated with the 16T.

MBC + too tight of wastegate setting = def. fuel cut and/or more problems IMO.

4psi is plenty - and is the spec setting for the angle-flanged 16T actuator.

Oh crap, that's right.....sorry man. I forgot they weren't available for 850's yet.

IIRC the one they are offering now something about the inlets/outlets needing to be a certain size for the 850's and they havent designed one to meet the 850's needs yet as far as i know though they're working on one

ha they work just fine on an 850. I bought one when they first came out just for the hell of it and have ran it for a while now and no problems at all. Boost is same as before just better response

how do you set it ?

i currently am messing with an mbc, and i still get fuel cut problems in 1st and 2nd, and when downshifting. When i downshift i can only get about 12psi in 2nd and it starts fading a bit. Maybe our cars just like to limit boost in the first 2 gears, i'm not sure. Is this supposed to be normal?

Take the vacuum line that runs to the wastegate actuator and put it on a hand pump and play with it until it begins to open around the 4 psi mark on the hand pump's gauge.

Yeah, 12 psi in 2nd is going to be a def. problem. 1st and 2nd gears are limited, IIRC first is something like 6 psi or so and 2nd is roughly 8/9.....much higher than that and you will experience problems.

yeah , i think the boost fade that i'm noticing in the first couple of gears is just the computer dropping to the boost that its being set too. For this reason, I think i'm just gonna go back to the bcs, or buy a EBC.

I don't know man, the way our ecu's handle boost really sux. I mean i've driven other turbo cars that seem to give full boost in all gears after just a few simple mods, and are able to handle really fast spool and never cut power, ours are more difficult to adjust. I've been messing with my car for months trying to fix my boost problems, i'm starting to think i most likely don't as it's just the ecu controlling everything. The tuning choices for us at the moment really are inferior to other tuner cars. The best thing that has happened to use is the addition of the new Turbo Tuner kit that we can get from CJ. I think that once we settle on those and figure out how to tune our own cars, we will really unlock the potential of our cars. Heck, even with the ability to swap maps with other users is a great addition to be able to have a choice of running a base line tune and fine tuning on top of it.

I really think stock turboed 850 with full 3" TBE , FMIC, custom Turbo tuner tune can very well be above 240whp. I bet 275whp can be squeezed out of that setup.

The only thing that is holding us (me) back from buying the tuner kit is not having a base tune(sort of like how our tunes are now).

Aaron, I forgot to mention i have a st 17psi tune, is 12 still too much in 1st/2nd gear?

According to Volvo, boost is limited on automatics, in first gear only, until you reach 3000rpm. Any reduced boost you see after that is simply the turbo not spooling fast enough for the increase in engine revs because the stock BCS/TCV is pretty conservative in it's control.

And good luck getting 275 whp from a 15G or 16T. Not impossible, but it's a lot more work than you would suspect. The turbo just isn't big enough. ;)

even on a HP engine?

Aaron i get how to put vac to it but what do i need to asdjust? is is the arm or is there some sort of screw or somehting there for adjustments? does it have to be off the car?

its been a while since i looked at the turbo and dont remember

thanks
