Custom Grill

I've been meaning to do this for a while. The grills on a 850 usually fades from a chrome to a metallic gray so I decided to paint the grill black, but leaving the chrome border and emblem alone.

Took the emblem off and taped up the sides and used a special spray paint for plastics. Put on a couple of coats and let it dry for a day. Looks great! Really brings out the Volvo emblem and makes the car look more sporty. It's a cheap and easy thing to do for your car if you want to make it look cooler than it already is.

Just thought I'd let ya'll know...PEACE!

Hey, I knew it's been done many times before and I knew that I wasn't bringing anything new to this forum. ;) I just wanted to bring it up cause I think it's a good and cheap mod, that's all.

Just thought I'd let you know...PEACE! :D

Man, ...do you think that perhaps my post could help someone out and generated some ideas? But no...I'm sorry if this minor upgrade wasn't cool enough to post. I'm sure 90% of the people on this forum are know-it-alls, I don't care.

I personally thought this up on my own, one of the first things that I thought of when I bought the car. This doesn't make it any more special, because I learned that any ideas I come up with on this car, about 1,000 other idiots are going to say "been there, done that."

BTW, it does look sexy! ;) PEACE!

i did the same..the chrome ring really makes it look stock, i think i will be deleting it and just leaving the slash, i'd like a more aftermarket appearance.

but... it does look better than stock :) and im happy with the results.. it really improved the looks of the front end of the car.

I got sick of the whole grill deal and just took it off, and its staying off,

I think I get more airflow too...

Back when i still had the grille, i colormatched it to the body and it looked amazing.

I was thinking about just leaving it off too, doesn't look too bad and it does improve flow. But I like have the option of having the grille on or off.

Thankyou!

I may be mistaken as to what you actually did, but with no grille wouldn't that mean an exposed radiator to rocks, sticks, excessive dirt, small animals, birds, people throwing things, garbage, and in my friend's case, large grapefruit!? I don't see how a grille can restrict airflow THAT much...

Paintmatching would look sweet BTW.

Im pretty sure the stock fake chrome is more ghetto than no grille at all. What would you suggest that is not ghetto (not like i care anyways)?

Once I have my huge shiny FMIC and no grille I think itll look amazing.

The condensor is in the front and i dont give a darn about it cause i want to rip it out anyways. Theres also thousands if not more, running very expensive FMIC setups with them exposed to open air.
