ROB @ VMS
Vms Ported Polished Manifolds. We can polish anything you want to a mirror finish. Also we do throttle bodies as well. Brent is doing one with us at the moment if you would like to get some feedback with others that are doing the same.
ginkof
just curious but how is porting and polishing done? especially around all those weird turns and stuff? ive heard that this gew that eats away at metal is pumped through the pipes and that ports it... myth? or true? ROB @ VMS
We use special bits and tools to do the work. For a really good job it takes awhile to do it.

Also called extrusion honing. They use a clay based emulsifier and pump it back and forth through the manifold. This eats away at the inside and bores it out, as well as smooths it.Just curious, Rob, do your manifold's require a core, or does the customer supply the manifold to be worked on? And do you have any of those available with one more runner? ;)

WhiteT5
I did it myself w/ a throttle body. I went through several dremel things. You have to use the ones that are like within' a mm size of the larger side of the TB. They're the dark colored ones. It took a coupla hours to actually get it bored out. Then you can use a polishing wheel of the same size to get it to a mirror shine. It ended up about 5 mm larger in diameter. I had to get a new throttle plate made by a machine shop. I also had them examine the throttle body itself and make sure it was perfectly round and stuff. The new throttle plate seals perfectly inside the housing and there are no leaks or irregularities. It's not on the car yet. I'm just going to replace it whenever I clean my EGR valve next. I am however interested in having my intake manifold ported and polished, which is obviously not doable by myself. Have you ported and polished intake manifolds before Rob? ROB @ VMS
Yes we do, also very soon here we will have custom intake manifolds for both turbo and NA motors.
