So what you can charge him $100 for the same thing

Generally volvo dealerships up in Canada require techs to have a LICENSE. And from what I've heard from tech support (Does north america) Your volvo techs in the states are what some would call "retarded"

how's the fluid looking?

Brand new Volvo 3309 fluid, as per the TSB for hard shifting.

I do. Start a new thread. :D

You're funny. Tell us another one...

Last thread I started on this didn't get any replies. Since we have a tech responding in this one it's worth a shot.

Considering once a volvo tranny does start to slip theres nothihng you can do to save it

Not completely true. I've had success doing 16L flushes on them, then doing a full adaptation drive. Car goes out, runs perfect after. If we;re talking about T6 Transmissions, yes, once they slip you're in the pooper.

As for hard shifting, if you've done the flush, make sure the level is good (just at HOT when vehicle is at temp), and make sure it's running when checking. If it's still shifting hard, there are a couple things to look at. Make sure your mode selector switch isn't stuck on SPORT from coffee spills. Although will generally set a DTC, I have seen odder things happen. Secong thing you can do is check your mounts (Like Chilled Man mentioned) Also check your transmission torque mount (under car, connecting from trans to subframe). After all that, again, bring it somewhere to do an adaptation... Make sure they actually drive the vehicle and dont just "reset" it. They will be on a 45 minute road test, if they're 2 minutes, then they're yanking you. If all that doesn't fix it / all looks good, you CAN replace the valve body (not too bad of a job to do). Hard shifts are generally from a failing valve body, whereas slipping has moreso to do with the transmission. But even a new valve body may not fix it, but is a cheaper alternative. (For hard shifting, I'd say 80% success when doing valve bodies)

Uh, actually that was me who mentioned it. Maybe it was because of the earlier sarcastic comments from me that you confused me with him.

Hmmmm very good info :)

Agreed, I have this thread bookmarked.
