Fudge_Brownie
nah i have an oil pan in the driveway lol. i've known it leaked a little. just was more than i thought. and i would be way too fkn scared to get under a car i propped up myself Thats why I suggested just trying to clean the place off. It takes some "getting used to" laying under something that will break you when it falls. Just remember the golden rule: always use jack stands. Position those properly and leave the jack in a place that can also help hold the car up. Don't forget to block the rear tires, climb under and just hang out down there. Get familiar with everything, wipe some stuff down. You can dooo eeeett. Now go get your big boy shoes and get under the car.
khax
i hate laying under a car that's sitting all all 4 wheels you made it sound pretty nice lol, i don't have jackstands though. i'm not completely opposed to the idea though. edit: actually are there jackstands by the spare tire and all that? assuming no hah. BlackBrick
Then buy a couple of ramps that are rated for 5000 lbs.
wheelsup
I have ramps and jack stands, I use the ramps unless I have to take the wheels off. I bought the highest rating ones ($40 at Pepboys), not because they would support the car better, but because they were a little bit wider. With ramps I tend to get under the car a lot more often because it's not such a PITA to jack the thing up, and I feel more secure. On a side note my rear cam seal leaked way more than my RMS, in fact my RMS has leaked 1/2 quart in 2500 miles, where as my rear cam seal would leak 1 quart per 500. I doubt they have jack stands that came with the car, if they did I still wouldn't trust them...
Fudge_Brownie
Agreed. I didn't see that edit. Do not trust the spare tire jack. I've read of too many people seeing them give out. A local autoparts or tool store (ie SEARS) should have a cheap starter kit that comes with a jack and some stands.
