2nd gen RX7 w/a 20B

Star/Quest - w/a 4G63 conversion - or 5.0L ford

...both of which are pretty mainstream...

personally? I'd go old school volvo wagon... 60's... or even a 245

.. I rebuild / saved an FC35 from the crusher and it's loads of fun NA (rx convert).. and the starion I picked up is in the process of being reassembled... PO removed every nut an bolt from the firewall forward to paint / restore. The motor's been rebuilt (theoretically).. who knows.

I'm on a Volvo kick now..

Whats is your budget for a project? People mention some cars that are twice more expensive than your volvo.

exactly my thoughts. and the term "project car" implies that your gonna dump a bunch of money into it. if i were you i'd be saving that money for the volvo

you mentioned big turbo and intercooler. properly tuned, a "big" turbo setup is at LEAST $5000, regardless of what car its going on

Ok so so far in this thread i have seen posts that 944's are slow and rx7's are unreliable...

I take personal offense...

Im not saying your wrong!

im just offended ;)

btw $5k and a 944 turbo runs 12.20's

the only car on the list that can make 425whp+ on the stock motor.

and on a side note $5k on an rx7 and it runs, PERIOD!

end of the day...
