gph993
Started this car today and brake pedal goes almost to floor although brakes still work. Fluid reservoir is full and there is no signs of leakage. The message "Antiskid Service Required" is now displayed. Is this two separate issues or is a bad master cylinder causing the antiskid message. I have not scanned for codes yet. Any Ideas? Yaw sensor could not have gotten wet, the car has been in the garage for the past year.
UnknownSoldier
I had the same fault and it was just that something went wrong with what should be happening with one of the DTSC signals and the ECM was just varying the figures of the signal to compensate. I got my mech to just check all the codes and clear them and it hasn't come back.
PyROTech
brake pedel sensor? seen it on another make of car to cause similiar message.
gph993
Thanks for the info.. I'll clear the codes this weekend and see if the message comes back. Any ideas about the brake pedal having no pressure and the reservoir is full of brake fluid?
GTPlus
Thanks for the info.. I'll clear the codes this weekend and see if the message comes back. Any ideas about the brake pedal having no pressure and the reservoir is full of brake fluid? It could be a lot of things. 1. Air in the lines.2. Master Cylinder has an internal leak between circuits. 3. Issue with a solenoid on the DTSC. 4. DTSC pump motor stuck on. You would hear this.5. Booster issue. Does it fall to the floor only when the vehicle is running?Best thing to do get the codes, that and obviously don't drive the vehicle.
dmelviØØ7
Could also be a steering angle sensor...Do you have VADIS/ViDA? If not you won't be able to pull those codes afaik.
gph993
OK, I just bled the brakes and topped off the reservoir. Pedal has pressure. After I start the car, the pedal goes to the floor again. After turning off the engine, the pedal has no pressure and goes to the floor again. Booster bad? Does this happen often? Car has 48K miles. I looked on eeuroparts and this booster is darn near 600 bucks! Can I install this or does the new one need "programmed" by the dealer. Thanks. gph993
Of course I would hope it is the booster check valve, How do I check to see if it is bad? Thanks.
GTPlus
Of course I would hope it is the booster check valve, How do I check to see if it is bad? Thanks. It wouldn't be the likely cause of your issue. The check valve is there to hold a vacuum in the booster when the engine isn't running. A bad check valve would make a stiff pedal, on the first apply, shortly after the engine is turned off. It sounds like the booster is doing it's job. You could just be feeling the effects of the vacuum boost.how much travel is there with no vacuum? Drain the vacuum by pressing the pedal several times while the engine is off. Measure the pedal travel and see how much there is. It shouldn't be more that 1.5 inches. If it is there is still air in the system, or possibly an internal leak in the MC or ABS unit. The DTC's could help further diagnose what is going on.
gph993
I ran a quart of brake fluid through the lines while power bleeding them so I doubt air is in the lines. The pedal travels to about 1/2 inch of the floor with the engine running or not. When driving, the brakes do work when the pedal gets within that 1/2 inch to the floor range, but I have not tried an emergency, hard braking stop. I wont be able to get DTC's unless I go to the dealer which I am obviously holding off doing. Thanks, GPH
