fasts60r
So on my 2000 xc, the plan is to put pegs. I have already purchased them and they are in my garage. Anyhow, I need tires. If memory serves me, the 215 45 17 is a bit stretched. Not sure I am a fan. 225 45 17 would be my preference, but I don't know if they will rub. Anyone have pics for example? And any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!Mike

My mom is like your mom, his mom, joe's mom, larry's mom, tom's mom, dick's mom ALL MOMs...............they complain, nag and repeat stuff all day long. If your's doesn't do this you are really lucky. By all means, she's still a great mom. that being said, I have yet to hear a complaint from her about the tires. she surely complained about almost everthing else about the car i chose for her. She didn't really complain, she commented on why is this and why is that. Generally she liked the car in the beginning. Now she has high praises about the car and how smooth and well it drives. she even commented on how well the XC handled this NYC winter, how well it handled upstate NY's snow. SHe will drive 500 miles to go snow fishing, in less than 8 months that XC has 16000 miles on it. she says the tires are really good choice, and it was only $25 more than the firestones she really wanted.(yuk)tire size she using was a 225/55/16 cost $122 last may 2008 car has almost 100k now, and she has a failing ETM...OMG, you guys have to hear that conversation, that's another LONG thread another day. :D :D

--Aaron--
Group buy? i can haz pegsOn a serious note......why not just go with the OE tire size for a 17 in. peg for your car?
NEU
Hussein (Lookforjoe) XC with Pegs has 235/40-18 and 235/45 on his 17 Pegs too. IIRC the XC run bigger tires, just like your R. On my R I run 235/40 on the OZ and when I use my GPS and look at the speed both are dead on, when I run my snow tires, like at the dyno, they are a little smaller in diamerter 205/55-16 (but stock size!) and the speedo and GPS is off, so I believe the true tire size or my R is the larger XC size. So if you are worried about the speedo being off by 3-5mph don't go smaller then stock and run 235/45-17, they shouldn't rub that bad.... Well that depends on the offset but its only at full lock. db130
i hope you are aware that 17x8" pegs will grind against a protruding bolt on the AWD rear trailing arm, you can either use 5mm spacers or grind down that bolt.my '00 XC SE had 205/55/16 with the factory 16x6.5" ET43 Pleaid rimsi can confirm that Nitto Neo Gen 225/45/17s on 17x7.5" ET43 Propus C rims work great with no rubbing, and the speedo is right on:

It's worse if you lower the car. :)
JoshV70
225/45 is a tad stretched on Pegs, but looks fine. 235 will work...withsome wheels due to offset you might have clearance issues regarding the tire.
firepuma
I ran 235/45/17 on my pegs on my 00'r. they rub, I'm lowered though. You have to do 5mm spacers in the back.
fasts60r
Thank you guys for all the input. I appreciate it. I was unaware of the rubbing issue, but I guess I can get some spacers. Also, I was under the impression that lowering a xc was not too common. I have looked at springs for it, but only ipd seems to have them and then you get into the nivomat thing and I just thought ugh forget it. Any suggestion or input on that would be welcomed also. I am really glad I can size up though with the tires. That makes me feel a little better.
