Noahkk19
What are the different triggers that will cause the ECU to run boost in this safety mode? 94 850 Turbo
slick50
I have never seen a volvo run a safety setting for boost. I know it will pull timing back if the motor knocks. If it see's any pre detonation pulling the timing back will down the boost on the turbo. If that answers your question.as far as what could cause pre detonation, well a lot of things. To much boost not enough fuel, sensors themselves throwing wrong signals to cause fuel mixture to be off, ie MAF, Oxygen sensors,ECT, etc. But never seen boost to be lowered for a safety with vehicle ECM. Noahkk19
Oh I thought there was some trigger that caused the ECU to run a max boost of 3psi. I DONT KNOW where I got that from though. But your explanation makes sense. I would hope I don't get horrible pre-detonation on a all stock motor running 93 octane. I think it's just time for a good all around tune up, and I know I have a noticeable crack in a pretty big turbo hose. So looks like it's time to just start cracking away at things one by one. Noahkk19
You guys think a completely burnt out cat could cause a massive pull back of timing?
MrWinkey
Nope ....But a clogged cat will...
JHEIII874T5M
when/if I threw a cat code it'd only let me boost like 5 psi (weird, but true)
jross
When my front O2 went, it went into a 3-psi limp mode. OBD-II code was P0133, slow front response
JHEIII874T5M
just throw a MBC on it, you still have the fuel there, and crank up the boost
