Lower Boost After I Installed The Delco Tcv?

Recommended Posts

i installed the delco tcv and its adjoining plug yesterday on my T-5R... shiny nipple goes to turbo, filtered nipple goes to the intake, and the last nipple goes to the wastegate. the nipples on the new delco solenoid are smaller in diameter than the stockers, so you gotta basically zip tie them tight onto the delco apparatus. that being said, what's the problem? sound like i did what i had to? car isn't throwing any CELs or anything... i also did the correct 'learning' procedure where im driving normal for about 10 miles, then i full boost it for 3 secs, then normal again. the first time i full boosted after the install, the car spiked up to like 17psi, whilst i have the iPd stage I tune of 15psi. i was thinking, 'whoa' lol. thereafter, it never full boosted (even to normal of 15psi). i know i hooked that thing up right... could i have blown a hole in my CBV with that little spike the first time? NEvER had a problem holding boost until i installed the delco tcv... from a stand still, i could pin the pedal, and it'd almost immediately boost to 15psi and lose all kinds of traction... now, i pin it from a stand still and it's only boosting to 10psi and losing no traction??? what gives?

I noticed this too. I don't have a guage in the car right now, but Im still not convince that the Delco is an improvement over the stock unit.

Tested them back to back. :( (with break-in)

I've been waiting to install mine for this reason, wanted feed back.

Think there's something to IPD's not working on 850's w/BCS as well as the AC units. Lucky I believe touched on this In the GB thread as to why there's is not compatible with BCS style. Anyone else having issues.

That blows, ya I inquired back when lucky was running the GB for them and was in until he said they had seen issues on BCS, and would only offer it for non BCS. So when everyone was getting wrapped up in these for the non BCS I was wondering how they are working, and if anyone is expierencing the same issues IPD saw in there BCS testing coming up.

You need to break in the tcv correctly. Did you install with the battery disconnected like you are supposed to? The ac delco TCV is much, much better than the stock BCS, boost builds much quicker and boost holds better. You install it with the battery disconnected... when you have it all installed, drive without going into boost for about 5 to 10 miles. Then do a couple decent pulls and drive the car normally for a bit, turn the car off and start it back up. When I installed the new AC Delco tcv I didn't notice much at first, and was disappointed. But after about 10 minutes or so the car was way more responsive to throttle and the turbo much faster to spool. It now spools to 14-15psi in about 1-2 seconds. It is a great mod when done right.

i did install it right, as said in the original post... as far as disconnecting the battery - of course! who doesn't need the space? and just as a rule of thumb i always disconnect the battery when doing anthing with the sensors/electronic tid bits... maybe i do have a leak since the new delco piece has smaller diametered nipples? but i zip tied them tight as i could and i have the stylin kit to boot..

I wouldn't think you're experiencing any leaks but is possible... the hoses attached to my old bcs were reused, and kind of shi**y but still it works well... Did you make sure the polarity of the wires was correct? I know you prob disconnected the battery but I was just checking. I also am running a blanking plate on my 15G in accordance with my BOV, so perhaps there is a leak in the cbv or something? Sucks when this type of stuff happens, I was lucky mine went off without a hitch.
