2000 S70 Se Sluggish

So I don't know if it's related or not, but here is the dying transmission thread. Today I was driving the car and the car felt like it had no power. Now I know that the 2.4L NA is working pretty hard to move the car since it has only so much HP and TQ, but it felt sluggish. I was looking at the speedo (should not do that when driving on a busy road...:P) and it didn't seem to move as fast as it did before. I had 4 people in the car at the time, so the additional 150lbs or so could have made the car feel slower, but would it make it feel THAT slow?

My mom was driving the car on the highway yesterday and she said it felt a bit slow as well. Oh and if there's any relations, when braking or cruising in 3rd gear, the tach would now register around 1000RPM at 45KM/h, while before it would register at around 1200RPM. It seems to change every time after the engine starts and stops.

Finally, off topic but the brakes seem to squeal a bit under light braking. We've already had the brake pads and rotors changed, and I'll dig up the service records for more information if need be.

Thanks!

for the brakes i would say that if they are semi-matallic, a little squeaking is normal. If they are ceramic, then i would put some lub on all metal to metal contacting parts. I had some major issues with brakes squeaking and even warping 2 pairs of rotors on the rear, one set being brembo. But no matter the circumstance, i would lube up all those parts. Also a good idea for rear brakes is to get some cross drilled rotors, especially if you haul people around or anything heavy in the trunk. you can find a good set at thevolvosite.com for a really decent price.

also, just hose off the brakes tand let them dry. see if it was brake dust
