jschaefer7406
Hello all,Have a 2000 S70 AWD with nearly perfect charcoal leather. Was perfect when I bought in in '05, still looks good though. Drivers seat is starting to get those fine white cracks in the surface of the cushion part (backrest is fine). Know what I mean? No tearing or deep cracks, just the small cosmetic ones that appear. Could I have prevented this with leather conditioner, or is this eventual wear that would have occured no matter what I did? Leather is still fairly soft (not hard as a rock like they eventually get). I have a two part system from Meguires, just haven't had time to do it yet. Thoughts? Thanks,Joe
JoshV70
Look into Fabrion...they can repair those light cracks. Leatherique 2 part conditioners will also help the leather stay conditioned and prevent cracking.
brick-a-brac
Stay away from any product whose principal ingredient is lanolin, as it will saturate the leather and make it crack even more. I like Griot's leather conditioner myself.
SlapShot
I've used Lexol leather conditioner / cleanerand not trying to thread jack here...but what is recommended for the leather that has started to get pretty hard? I've hit it with leather conditioner multiple times but i'm not sure there has been much change other than placebo effect.
jschaefer7406
Hello again,The product I have is a two-step system that claims the use of Aloe (says nothing about Lanolin). As said, its Meguiars Gold Class, so I assume it's good stuff. Anyway, mostly wanted to know whether I could have prevented this, or if this is inevitable wear even with conditioning. Not that it matters much at this point, just curious . Thanks,Joe

MBXPilot
Griot's Leather Care is fantastic. I don't think it will do much restoration. But they do have something called Leather Rejuvenator that might help. Here's a link to it...http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/car+ca...vals&page=2 Hope that helps.
