Diy Cold Air Intake

Long Story short...

Worked with my 14 yr old last summer on this set-up when the airbox gave up (cover cracked)

post-16777-1239854529_thumb.jpg

I checked it last week and was quite disgusted with the cleanliness

of the silicone pipe between the filter and the MAF.. quite dusty....

So I bought a Fujita 3" cone filter and built my own heatshield

from a rubbermaid paper basket bought at office depot and some water pipe stick-on insulation tube...

I know, I know.... may be perceived as "ghettoish"....

Anyway, here is the result:

I may get an injen pre-filter(water repellent) to make sure that no water hits the filter.

Result, car spools a lot easier than previously... and yes, there is a whoosh... ;)

what did you do with the old setup? I might be interested in purchasing it if you're selling it reasonably.

Loudvolvo => Thanks

JVC

I'm using the T-Bolt clamps & 3" rubber collar adapter in my set-up.

Other than that, Still have most of it (carbon fiber heatshield, filter, extentable piping)

I can add a 90deg 3" black silicone elbow that I don't need.

50$ cleaned up + shipping and a beer if I ever meet you.... and it's yours.

Tylem28 => I'll try to take it apart this weekend and take a couple of pictures.

Cheers

well as every one has yelled at me so far about, 90* bends before a MAF cause strange problems. How ever, I never noticed a problem, and I recently just made the MAF before the 90* bend and saw no change.

So, Nice work! I likey

What are the dimensions on that carbon fiber filter housing (diameter and length)? If JVC doesn't want it, I may be interested.

Dan A

Dimensions of housing (see diagram):

The Tube is 14" extensible x 3" dia.

No news from JVC, will send message

Will keep you posted.

Tylem28

I was away this weekend (drove around 1200kms) and could not take apart the intake

(as I had to come back and did not want to chance breaking something)

No code so far.

Here are some additional pictures though.

The Alu pipe that you can see comes from ebay:

I cut it in half for this application.
