washdup
Just bought a used USA Spec for use with my SC-816. Only thing is, there's no instructions. I've done a bit of searching and seen that folks have had issues with grounding; but I don't see what appears to be a ground wire. Any and all help will be appreciated. mkc70
Just bought a used USA Spec for use with my SC-816. Only thing is, there's no instructions. I think there's a couple of extra cables that could be used as inputs that I won't be using, and there's a red and yellow wire that looks like Lucky had formed a little loop at the end. I've also done a bit of searching and seen that folks have had issues with grounding; but I don't see what appears to be a ground wire. Any and all help will be appreciated.Viewable install directions for all models are available at usaspec.com.
washdup
Thanks, I checked the mfr install instructions, but they do not cover the Volvo adaptor. Anyway, here's what I've got:
flyfishing3
the one i had for my HU 803, the yellow was the ground. i had to move it around some to find the best ground. most of the metal i found under the dash is small and not connected to much. hunt around.other than that, looks pretty straight foward. i put the rca box in the glove box so i had access to the rca's if i wanted to add more stuff. Anyway, here's what I've got:and here is the little loop:The red(Yellow/Violet) and yellow wire(Green/Brown) are for ignition and constant power respectfully. http://usaspec.com/userfiles/editor/file/581PA11HON.pdf Additionally you will need to purchase the CBP VOL cable to make yours work on an older Volvo. Good luck.
Ipd
Everything you have is all you'll need to make it work on a SC8XX radio. The blue connector is not used and the smaller DIN cable connects to the CD port in the back of the radio. As mentioned the red and yellow wires are for 12v key on and constant power. That's all there is to it. Where do the yellow and red connect to? No separate ground or did I miss something?

I think my preference is to route the iPod cable to the center console, but may go to the glove box if that looks too complicated. You're talking about the box itself though. Ipd
Thanks Lucky. Where do the yellow and red connect to? No separate ground or did I miss something?I just run the red and yellow wires to pins 12 and 13 on the radio connector. can't remember which is which on the radio connector but you can use a test light or multimeter to determine for sure.yellow wire needs 12v constant and red wire needs 12v switched (key on). Just searched and found: 12 is red (constant) and 13 is yellow (accessory). I think I'm ready. Will report back. Thanks for the help everyone. Now back to work. ;)

Young Burnsy
Do you guys have any interference noise on your units?I do and I'm wondering if I should just change my ground or if I should get a noise eliminator.
beadgc23
The red and yellow wires work the other way around too, but then your iPod won't charge with the ignition off. Ask me how I know...
