Replaced Cam Angle Sensor, Now No Spark

What a great day! I have been trying to get through emissions, had one last check engine code to take care of. The car threw a P0336 for cam angle sensor. It is a very intermittent problem only when light cruising and starting to go up a hill as the load increases then the car studders. I thought it was the tranny hunting at first but just figured out its this cam angle sensor.

Any way, I swapped in a cam angle sensor I found at the yard and the car wouldnt start. I thought must be a bad sensor so put my original back in. Car still won't start! I found I get no spark. Also no check engine codes are thrown. I love my car.

Any ideas? I can't imagine that I could have killed my coil while doing this, I would guess it has to be related to the sensor somehow. Maybe the code I had originally was from the wiring harness, bad wire in there... any other things to look at?

Is there a way to verify the functionality of a cam angle sensor? If it wasn't a $200 part I would just go buy a new one to try... Or should I take another trip to the yard and try a second one?

I never heard of wiring issue, but possible. Also was the car you got it off of sitting a long time as well and what were the miles on junk car. I have a cam sensor off a 45k s70 which is compatiable if interested check for sale thread for my part out ad.

Coud be a combonation of issues CMP sensor as well as coil module. See if you can get your hands on a used coul assembly or there are steps for checkin mhz on that module.

On my way in to work I grabbed the only other cam angle sensor from the wrecking yard, will give it a shot tonight. If that doesn't do it then another trip tomorrow morning and I will grab the coil. Wish I grabbed that this morning, oh well. thanks!

I installed the other new to me cam angle sensor and the car fired right up! I am guessing now that the very good condition body 850 I got the first one from was in there due to an engine that wouldn't start... and wouldn't start because of a bad cam angle sensor. Apparently my old one completely failed after I removed it, and wouldnt work to start the car again.

thanks for the help guys!
