Rotor Talk

Recommended Posts

Its about time to replace the front brakes. I have a slotted set in the rear that is still good (outlasted front slotted and a front blank).

So, I've SEARCHED a bunch today, without much luck. I've pretty much narrowed it down to trying out the ATE PremiumOne OR Raceconcepts (but I can't get a hold of them and their website doesn't list volvo // they are not in ebay anymore).

requirements: slotted (prefer 6 slots to match rear), rust coated, not bloody expensive (DBA 4000 for 115 is the max I'm considering)

All of this will be paired with SS lines, Akebono Pads and a new hardware kit from FCP

Suggestions including vendor?

You might try these guys: http://www.brakeco.net/

Looks like there is nothing there other than a few emails and a phone number.

However I checked the package I got from raceconcepts when I ordered a full set of rotors last fall and that was the name on the box as well as the shipping notice from DHL.

Looking from the image on their site those are the same rotors that raceconcepts was selling on ebay. For what its worth I've been really happy with mine. Had them on for about 6 months with mintex pads. They stop great and no squealing.

Thanks for the information. I wonder why they are trying to change branding when they were just getting popular. I'll call these guys and see what they can offer.

Edit: Called... number no worky

OP, I would ONLY go with slotted or regular rotors.

Try to get your hands on some powerslot 302mm rotors and you will love them.

if that is out of your price range then go with some decent R1Concepts 302mm Slotted rotors in the front and OEM Volvo regular in the back

ATE PremiumOne

Best rotor for the money better then most that cost double. The only downfall is if your looking for a floating rotor they do not offer any two piece rotors. However, you drive a Volvo so I doubt most people on this board will need a floating rotor.

ATE supplies is an Original Equipment Manufacturer for our cars. But the Premium One rotors are the flower slots. Wondering if Jamie can get them for a better deal, but I doubt it.

I have slotted brembos rear and blank brembos up front.

Debating on replacing the whole set now or wait a little on the rear as the budget is tight. Thanks for the responses, I think I will do the ATEs unless I can get a hold of Race Concepts.

BTW, Dave is R1concepts the same as Race Concepts?

EDIT: Found my own answer... R1 Concepts is not the same but they are very similar. I also saw some quite negative things about them in G35driver.com

yes... same company

They got them!!!! 65 bucks... but I just called Jamie and he said he thinks he can get them for like $40 a piece :o

Not sure if he is thinking of the same ones. Mind calling him and finding out from another angle?

Formerly race concepts and still selling Volvo rotors. The last time I was in there which was around five months ago I got all four corners for $210 for Brembo slotted w\ zinc plating. I see you're in CA so you'd have S&H to deal with.

Three years ago I was looking for rotors on eBay and found DRT and found them coincidently enough just two towns over from where I live. In going there to pick them up and talking to the owner to find that he was one on the main principals in the partnership of Race Concepts out where you are.

Small world but the rotors from three years ago and this last set are holding up nice and definitely a good deal for what I paid. I don't know if Race Concepts itself is still out there in name or otherwise, could be!?
