Cbv Help

See, this is why I am naive when it comes to car things. The CBV instructions state the amount of shims to use depending on the amount of boost, and give boost levels from 9 - 20 psi. For 10 psi of boost, it states to use 2 shims, for 16 psi of boost, 4 shims. If the shims aren't needed unless running crazy boost levels, why state the amount of shims then? So based on the instructions, I was thinking I needed 4 shims in the CBV.

In summary, I shouldn't need any shims in the Viva CBV based on the stiffer spring.

that is correct

VIVA's kit comes with a diaphram and 5 shims, how many you use depends on how much boost you run.....you retain your original spring or at least that's how their kits were last June when I purchased my old one.

No it dosent you must be thinking of a diffrent kit. Viva come with a stronger spring so no shims needed.

Sorry for the confusion, I haven't looked on their website recently.

Is there a write up on the correct shims that should be used with the stock spring? I figure I might grab some fender washers if I can get the thickness I need for different boost levels.

I think some guys have used quarters with no issues.

QBM has the pdf install manual still on their website with the shim thickness and amounts needed.

hopefully

what is your vacuum at idle in P, D and cruising at 60? WITH THE AC OFFF

Well i know when it's in park vacuum is at 20-21. Ill test it out later and let you know, but I'm pretty sure 20 is good though? All my vacuum lines were recently replaced so i don't think its that. I'm going to do a fmic soon so if the cbv isn't my problem I'm hoping all new intercooler/intercooler pipes will fix it you know

doesnt FORGE make a CBV?
I've been looking for one of those Forge SRT-4 CBVs for some time now with no luck. I contacted Forge this morning, and this was their response:

The part has been discontinued as we no longer produce diaphragm based valves. We stopped production and selling them middle of last year. We are working to develop a new valve for this car, however I do not have an estimate of when a prototype will be ready.

Regards,

Sean Lyle

I asked about support for the existing ones, he said that they do still offer replacement diaphragms as part of their warranty. So if you already got one, good. If not, you're waiting until they come out with the new, revised model. No ETA on when it will be released at this point. <_<
