Charles G
I'm in the process of removing my radiator to bring it to a local radiator shop to have it tested. I removed the engine fan and radiator hoses. But I can't seem to detach the oil cooler hoses from the transmission/transaxle. The plastic around the connection was brittle and broke off easily. How can I detach the oil cooler hoses from the radiator?
vegasjetskier
I don't know if this will help or not, but here are the VADIS directions:S80RadiatorReplacement.pdf
Ihatespeedbumps
Those green clips can be a PITA. If you can fit a small screwdriver in there to release the clip you will probably be able to get it out. It may require some tugging and cursing. That seems like an awful lot of work to test a radiator. If I went through the trouble to pull it out just to check it and it was original I think it would be wise to just put a new one in. You would probably save yourself a lot of work.
MrWinkey
As suggested you can remove the clips with a small screwdriver by pressing in on the tabs. I'm questioning why your having it tested though? What is the issue? You will need new green clips for re install ;)

I'll just replace it and save the $50 testing fee. Besides, I just read a Volvo TSB that stated that one of the main reasons for transmission failure is contamination of transmission fluid with antifreeze. As it turns out, my transmission has been overhauled 3 times in the past 2 years and is failing yet again. Time for a new radiator. Thanks a bunch for your advice. erikv11
Let me know if you are looking for a radiator, I am picking up a new-in-box 8602538 Volvo radiator later this week. It may fit the S80 I'm not sure. Anyone who can look up part numbers please chime in.
