Crazy Idea?

So I'm thinking, if I remove the heater core in the cooling loop in our V70, then I may extend it's life, as well as the htr hoses. There is so much room in the rear of the engine area of NA that by removing the block-end of the htr hoses, I can 'jump' the inlet and outlet using 5/8 heater hoses available in parts store.

Typical arragont american... I guess there's a reason why you can drop out of highschool and become a license technician in the states  If they had any type of schooling system that was mandatory, there wouldn't be any mechanics in the states

How do you say it in Canadian? Fail, eh or eh, fail

Again proving the fact that you must have some sort of mental disability. There is no "Canadian" language. And I do understand you were just trying to be a smart ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD, but again, it comes as arrogance...

I could never understand when I was a kid... going to Europe and seeing Americans with Canadian flags on the backpacks.

You ask for advice, people are giving it to you, and you're just fluffing them off.

Why don't you just not bother posting a topic in the first place and just do as you please? Go back to your backyard and finish machining your rotors with your donkeys shoes.

edit: Hour and a half for a heater core? And you're talking like you know all and you're king $hit? lol, got find a hobby where you can put some money where your mouth is.

"Heating/cooling elements work best when they are used. If you take it out of the loop, I believe it will crap out prematurely."

Sounds like against common logic - if no heat and no pressure applied for half the time, I'm thinking it should last twice the time it would otherwise last.

What do you think would be the reason for your belief?

Indeed, our V70 is 11+ years now, never failed to flush the coolant every two years to avoid making the coolant acidic and eat away on cooling 'channels' and hoses.

If you buy a used car in say, Texas, and bring it up to a cold climate, chances are very good that the heater will not work very well. It will be leaky, or will leak soon after you start using it.

Conversely, if you bring a car that has lived it's life in a cold climate to the southern states, the AC won't work very well, if at all. And, same thing, it will crap out pretty soon.

Why? It doesn't get used. Seals crack, metals corrode, etc etc. Use it or lose it.

To keep both systems working right, they need to be used regularly, and flushed/filled regularly. Now you know.

Very good point.

In fact, the AC needs to be used even when cold for this reason (in our Volvo's it's turned on when in defrost, a good thing for that purpose of 'exercising' the AC system even when cold.

Same thing applies to park-brake, when not regularly used, they freeze.

Thanks for pointing that out. Well taken.

Failed again.

Read your post. You started bashing and then went on talking nonsense.

You're the 'arragont' one.

And you fail again if you take the eh joke too hard.

And if the very mention of 'Canada' or 'Canadian' offended you enough to make those childish attempt to elevate yourself by bashing, and mentioning travel to Europe (on daddy's tab?), then I apologize. I will be more considerate in the future.

The spirit of this thread is meant to be for fun ('crazy idea').

Don't take it too hard. You sound so young to be hating.

Hah, you're such a childish american. I don't feel like getting into an argument with someone like yourself :D

btw, yes on my daddys tab at the time... little hard to afford tickets when you're 8-14.

But you probably think that the US is the only country in the world :P
