2001T5
P0442 = EVAP Emission Control System Leak, or so the OBD2 says. So what exactly should I be focusing on? I'm ordering new turbo hoses and vac hoses tomorrow. Anything else I should add to the list for this?
PsychoWagon
V70... check your J hose check your gas cap and if all looks good bring it to the dealer for an extended warranty (ecm upgrade). Possible bunk leak diag pump.
Ihatespeedbumps
Check the gas cap to make sure it is secure and also inspect the seal for any damage. You can visually inspect the hoses by the charcoal canister to see if there are any obvious breaks in them as well. Evap leaks are more easily diagnosed with things like smoke machines. MrWinkey
Your turbo and vac hoses have nothing to do with it. Follow your lines from the fuel tank up and inspect thoroughly (not the fuel feed and return either).
2001T5
Just got the new gas cap in today. There is almost a half inch difference in where the seal sits. The old seal is so far up in the knob that you can barely put a finger on it. The new one sits outside the knob. I haven't cleared the code yet, but can tell just visually that this could be the problem. I also inspected the lines from the gas fill area. All look okay, up until they go underneath the rear suspension. I can't look any further until I get it on a lift. Thanks for the help!!
MrWinkey
OEM gas caps work best....Just buy the one without instructions on how to install as it's cheaper....seriously :o
2001T5
It was only 28 bucks, so not too bad.
