pinky
I noticed this on my two front tires today. I only have two guesses as why this happened. Heavy breaking from spirited driving around town, or my tires sat on some oil for a while, but can't think of a time or place this would of happened. These are the tires that came with the car so I have no place to go and collect on a millage warranty . I know these are cheap tires ($55 each online), but I do like them as I had a set on my old Nissan Maxima a few years ago. They have low road noise and good all weather traction, just not much in terms of handling. Anyway I am wanting your guys opinion on what or why this happened to my tires. If you want to give me ideas on what new tires I should get go ahead. I am looking for 205/55/R15. Wanting spend $400 for a set of 4. I should also mention I recently went off roading on a construction site. I am into rally racing so I take my wagon places it should not go at speeds it should not hit on dirt. -Pinky
shanehutton
Looks to me like they sat in something that ate the rubber. They couldn't wear like that from aggressive use.

Black Betty
A good street tire for you is the falken 912 but i wouldnt take it off roading. Its low noise, comfortable, and will handle better than that. It was rated high by consumer reports, and its fairly cheap. I wouldnt take it off roading though

I wouldnt take it off roading though This car is my daily driver so I will be on dirt/gravel roads sometimes. I will also be through rain, sleet, ice, and snow. It must be good in snow because I help with Rally America once a year and its sometimes snows. I get a chance to drive 3-4 of the courses while closed, WOOT! I will need an all season tire. JVC I like what you recommended, but according to some online sites the Hri's perform just as well. The Kumho Ecsta ASX do have a better speed rating which in tern should be better handling so I am all for trying them out. After doing some reading I am amazed at how high a rating the Fusion HRi's get overall. They seem like they want to roll so bad in my car.
