jschaefer7406
Hello all, In planning my 15G and R manifold swap on my LPT, I am curious to see what part number heat shield others have used. Trouble is, the XC90, S60R, and S60 2.5T all have different numbers for the shield (even though they all used the 30637921 manifold). I know the existing can be reused with modification, but I'd like to find one and do it 100% if possible. Any ideas? Is the difference due to the KKK vs. TD04 turbo, or did they all use the KKK units by 2004? What numbers have others used with success? Thanks, Joe P.S. - I know the lower bolt threads into the downpipe, so that's another variable...

CO.T5M
if there was one there to start i would put it back
Big Will
Absolutely use one! It's the hottest part of the engine practically. You can re-use the original ones. You don't have to modify them unless you want to have every single bolt line up - then you drill one hole. I am running the original heat shields on my R manifold. I don't know which part # to use though sorry Joe!
7 VII 7
I think you have to fab up some brackets... lookfore did some... look at his builds
magicaljake
i thought i heard someplace that you use the s60r heatsheld when you do a r manifold swap
lookforjoe
Crazy not to use a heat sheild - unless you really want to add all that extra heat to your bay.... ended up using the outer sheild from my '99 Xc - it's cleaner looking
stick70
Im running the s60R one on mine, I can get teh part # off of it later if you want, like others have said the stock one will work, but i like the s60R one more
jschaefer7406
Hello everyone, Thanks for all of the insight. I would definitely like to run a shield, just curious what number. I do appreciate all input though. As for the inner shield, VADIS shows the same P/N for the R as my S70 already has (and most others). Outer shield is the one that's different for all three models that used the R mani. So you guys are saying that the outer fits 100%, and it's the inner that would need drilled? Thanks, Joe P.S. - stick, if you could get the P/N's of both without much trouble, that'd be great. You are running a TD04, right (assuming angled flange)? flyfishing3
no heat shield, no problems. there's a few other members here running panty shields but thats a different story.

My inner one is definately different from the old one I had, the number stamped on my outer one is 30713259, hopefully, its still a good number. I am running straight flange right now, with stock downpipe. The headsheild just barely rests on the downpipe, but causes no rattles or issues. Im sure that when i switch to angled and new downpipe, it will clear 100%
stick70
heres a picture, doesnt really show the inner at all but hopefully you can get a small idea about it.
UnknownSoldier
Got a chop in my heat shield so that the wastegate can be adjusted easily.
Mesoam
Use the heat shield, it is beefy and does reduce under hood temps. Unless you're running a vented hood that heat is going straight into your engine bay, also if you don't run the fire blanket you're just going to make the paint on your hood fade quicker. mune237
I put a later model T5 manifold on my 850. Don and Jamie set me up with the right parts. Give them a call at Waltrip Volvo / Hendricks Motorsports 1-800-679-6124 They sent me the parts diagram, and I told them which parts I wanted.
