Guest dguillot
Code: [P1671] CMP Actuator Performance Problem Or Signal Out Of Range ----------------------- The check-engine light comes on and stays on continually, until the computer is reset with battery cable removal. The battery cable removal reset only keeps the light off for 7 miles, only after the car has sat for 4 plus hours. A Scan Tool resets the light for only a few seconds. After the car runs a while and the engine light comes on, a battery cable removal to clear the computer, gives the result of only 1 minute of run time before light comes on again. Any ideas, could it be the sensor, the actual cam actuator or alignment of the stars? I had the timing belt change at Volvo of Houston in Jan. of 2009. I ask them to read and clear the computer at that time but they stated that, the cause of the engine light was a leaky radiator resevoir, and since I had one to replace it with, go ahead and change that first. I did and problem still existed. Adding this ODBII chart that I found on the Internet from INNOVA Volvo ODBII Codes.txt
Ihatespeedbumps
Likely it's just the cam position sensor has gone bad. this is a very easy replacement and the average DIYer should be able to tackle this job.
NWC70
Just as a side note, if your timing is off that will throw the same code as if the sensor is really out.
