Boost Gauge Install

Recommended Posts

so im installing my new boost gauge and decided to splice in to the stock line, when i took out the instrument cluster the line stayed on the cluster and disconnected on the other end. where do i hook it back up ? i took off the bottom steering wheel panel with all the wires exposed, now what? what do i look for ?

is the vacuum tree on top or on bottom of the steering column ?

vacuum tree is in the engine bay ontop of the throttle body area.

if the tube came un-done in the cluster area it might have just separated from another hose

The stock boost line should go from the cluster DIRECTLY to the vacuum tree

now if there are joints in-between there I am not sure... but running a line directly to the Vacuum tree is the best option

The stock turbo gauge connects to a vac line under the drivers side kick panel. The line should be a hard black (or white, cant remember) plastic line, which goes through the firewall and into the engine bay.

Look behind that lower panel on drivers side for a white plastic line. That's the feed into the cabin.

That is where i spiced mine into, it is a hard line and it will give you the same reading as the vac tree, save yourself the time and headache of running it through the firewall, unless you have a s70 than you have no choice but to goto the vac tree.

i wanny run both gauges... i just need to hook up the stock on on the cluster. ill look for the black line see how it goes. btw if i run both gauges will they still give same reading at same time ?

They might be slow to respond running both. I would pick 1

Yup just put T fitting inline and your good, and yes they will both read at the same time, just the stock one is not that accurate.

No they will both respond the same as before, unless you kink your line or switch to rubber vac line the whole way. Both are running fine in mine, pressure is right on.

crap i cant find where the rubber line from the cluster connect to.... if i run a new line likt 777 said to the tree, can some one show me a picture of which one to connect to ?

It connects to the back of the stock boost gauge. If your going to bypass the stock one just use that line that is hanging and dangling. If you want to connect to the tree, just remove one of the plugs on the tree and attach there.
