Volvoman37
i read the sticky about installing an aftermarket HU, but my one hang up is: will the one i have have enough power to get the full sound out of the speakers i already have? im not sure exactly which stereo i have, but it says "premium sound system" or something like that, and i do have the 6 disk changer in the trunk (which i wouldnt be using any more)just wondering if my AIWA 52wX4 would provide full soundlink to exact model: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-L7zqRFiaZm3/c...00&I=055CDCX504
The Reverend
Not sure, but you might have to do a rewire becuase you have a factory amplifier.
Chris_R
It should be fine. My "40x4" Pioneer powers the factory speakers just fine (for now). You probably don't have that factory amp either. Only a few of the earlier cars had it... Usually the R or T5-R.-Chris

prasamin
you will get good sound...you may not have to bypass factory amps...go to a good install shop and see what they say....you may be able to wire with factory amps running....mine is wired that way with a Sony HU...great sound, though my 2 12's on a 1000 watt amp hides any misses in the highs and mids anyway! Adam Franke
I have an Alpine unit that runs all 8 stock speakers and then I have the subwoofer and everything. When installing the headunit, they had a bigass label on it telling me to run the HUs power wire directly to the battery. Being the lazy man I am, I just ran it to the available power wire. I have noticed, that if I have the car in Acc. (no engine, just battery), that if I turn it up past a certain level, the entire car dies as if I turned the switch off and then back on to Acc. It's really quite fun stuff.
Volvoman37
this place sells a "amp bypass" ... HTH.. http://www.installer.com/cars/volvo.html←does this mean i DO have the factory amp?if i DO have it, would it be possible to run the 8 speakers from the head unit, and then use the factory amp to power an aftermarket sub? or would that be more trouble than its worth? At least that's how your HU sees it. I'm not sure where the rear speakers are in the wagon, but, they're not doing much besides giving you what's refered to as "rear fill" Many of us have deleted the rear deck speakers in our sedans, and if you chose to do that, you could run the remaing 6 (but really 4 speakers remember) off of your aftermarket deck with no problems.
