volflo
when stepping of the gas i now get a sh-sh-sh- sound (like the rally cars) instead of one long blow-off sound (i have a cone where i used to clearly hear it)the line from intake manifold to the valve at the turbo is in place.the membrane is ok as well.but still the air seems to be vented over the turbine and not back into the air intake section.....i popped off my connection from intercooler to throttle body three times yesterday. What can it be?Simply too much boost? (20psi)What else could be broken? How do i check if the spring that pushes the membrane is still intact?
JHEIII874T5M
check the vacuum line that leads to it (I had that problem) and it was making the same exact noise, almost like a fluttering sound. It could be worn out as well (from higher boost levels)

It could be worn out as well (from higher boost levels)←you mean if its cracked it cant push open the valve anymore?good point. tho i am not really happy to remove the whole line cos i know what a kasdggjhsadkgljhadsfg it is to get it back on.....
JHEIII874T5M
a cracked CBV would hurt boost levels as you describe, however my problem was not a cracked CBV, instead the line to it had a crack
Turbo Brick
The vacuum line running to the CBV has the job of opening the valve with vacuum when the intake manifold stops seeing boost and begins to see vacuum. If that line is cracked it may only be opening the bypass valve sporadically, or not at all, which would result in weird sounds from the CBV and/or compressor surge. Check that line ASAP. I replaced mine with 3/16 fuel line.
turbobrick
mine was also making that noise.. the line was very worn out and had gotten very hard..
Elliot
what your are hearing is compressor stall and it is not good, sounds cool though. As mentioned it is either a split in the vac line to the inlet manifold,or more likeley a tear in the diaphram of the rec valve,i have had a split one before. mrmandmman
I have what sounds like the same sound you are having... I get a sort of fluttering when I let off the gas. All of the vacuum lines have been replaced so I am assuming the cbv is busted?

JHEIII874T5M
so we have eric and pete tearing up 15G's and Florian murdering a 19T... super
mrmandmman
lol... what do you think the best route for fixing it would be? Replace it? get a 16t put in a bov and block off plate? How much would it cost to replace?
gronberg
I would go with a BOV and block of plate. Say like $15-20 for the block of plate and $70-150 for the BOV.
