Pops Racer
S60 mani, angled 16t, est DP with hi flo cat, new QBM CBV kit, 4 spacers. It all went great, I fabed a blanking plate for the egr port in the intake mani, holding 20 inches of hg at idle. But I'm in limp mode!! flashing arrow and I can't break 5 psi. Any suggestions? This was all done outside in the rain, Ben is a trooper. I was so excited I didn't notice I was soaked, meh maybe a little! Oh yeah, 1995 855 T5. ST 17 psi tune. SomeGuy
Did you do anything else to get rid of the egr other then just blanking it off? Is it deleted off of the ecu?
Pops Racer
no and no. It's still raining and I'm going out with the wife, so I'll try the old power reboot later. I emailed Oliver at ST over 4 weeks ago and no reply. I thought it was just a CEL and not a disabling fault. Is there a resistor shunt like other sensors? Pops Racer
nice art work . tune is great, just wanted particulars about egr delete from him. Pops Racer
just checked my outbox and its been 8 weeks since i sent him email. back to the issue tho, this is not an ST bash fest. now i'm leaving no I'm not. disconnected battery just now. AANNNND I remembered I swapped my MAF sensor with the one from my 1996 t5. No big deal, right?
Naughty33W
gotta be a problem with the egr delete attempt , if the MAF has the same wireset and/or harness (matches the same as your factory one , sorry i'm a bit tired and cant think straight) i cant imagine that would be the issue , well unless the maf you swapped has a different internal resistance or impedance , i guess that would confuse the ecu enough , that could be checked with a ohm meter tho
4Boys
The egr system is one of upto eleven or more monitored subsystems on OBD II systems your particular year Volvo has an egr monitor. Since you did'nt have it deleted it will continually run a self diagnosis to monitor for proper operation. By blocking it off the ecu is unable to detect it hence the stored code and limp mode status. The 5 psi. your seeing is just the ecu attempting to make the vehicle drivable and protect the drivetrain from possible damage until corrected. You should either reconnect the egr or repair it if it was'nt working properly or have ST Tuning do the egr delete. Good luck..
GeraldJ
Where did you get the ST tune? Could possibly be my old one If so you cannot delete the egr from that tune. Its a 94-95 ecu with egr. You cannot just block it off and hope for the best.
JHEIII874T5M
You need a 96+ tune. 94-95 tunes require EGR to keep car out of limp mode. Could probably do a resistor mod though.
Pops Racer
All good help, and all bad for me. It was a tune I bought direct from ST. I removed egr because new exhaust mani doesnt have port for plumbing. I should put both harnesses back together and rebolt valve to intake mani? WHat about the pipe ? Is there a resistor shunt that will fix this? Or do I just plug the connectors in and let the valve dangle in the engine compartment? ANy one done this mod with a 1995 before and what did you do? Searching now.
Pops Racer
I've got a 96 ecu, what if I threw that in there? I swaped my old MAF back in and the 96 ecu. arrow still flashing, but car seems to run better. Going to reset codes and then disconnect battery and see what happens just got a 411 code thats all. Harness that plugs into TB, correct? Checking that now. TPS harness disconnected. plugged it back in, read codes , got 411 only, cleared codes. got 1-1-1. Started car, arrow flashes still, check engine light on. Disconnected battery for the nite, see you tomorrow.
JHEIII874T5M
96 ECU would be perfect. Flashing arrow could be PNP... ratchet the shifter.
