Sparks In The Night

So I was driving home last night, I had been driving for around 1 hour on crusecontrol doing nothing funny when I lose all engine power it just shut down. I had heard somthing but can't say it was very loud. So I popped it out of drive looked in my rear view and saw a whole lot of small glowing orange peices scatering from my exuast it looked like. and then it would not start, it will crank but not fire up. I am afraid somthing went thru my cat. I pulled the plugs and looked in the cylinders , the plugs look fine and I can see no debri or particals in the cylinders. I will pull the exaust of the turbo and check to see if it fell apart next.

Any other things to look at????
