The Emperor
Interesting how both of them were Airbus aircraft.
Serge
That's no good at all. Airbus has some explaining to do, or one of their parts suppliers.

Airbus has some explaining to do, or one of their parts suppliers. it is very likely that at least one of these crashes is due to human error somewhere along the line whether it's mechanics or pilots. plus these are both totally different aircraft. the AF jet was only a couple years old, this jet could have been 30 years old. The Emperor
DonutsDemise is entirely correct. I just have this thing against Airbus, being a Boeing loyalist and such

Aren't they both A330s? But yeah, human error is usually the case.

I don't want to start airbus bashing, but it seriously doesn't look good for civil aviation in general. Crash in Buffalo, these flights.

I don't see any reason to fear air travel. Look at the statistics.
Syrup
I don't see any reason to fear air travel. Look at the statistics. Yep still the 'safest' form of travel. On the whole Airbus thing... The A310 had quite a few years under its belt. Most 737's that go down are often due to error or age. But the A330 issue go fars deeper: These puppies are fly by wire and who knows what can go wrong! Air France Qantas have had 2 'scares' with A330 aircraft often involving sudden drops in altitude. There is a lot of chatter ut there that the latest Airbus-es are just too complex. Karlson
The A310 had quite a few years under its belt. hmm, A310 was delivered in 1990, plane was not that old.
Young Burnsy
The Air France plane had faulty airspeed probes that were recalled by Airbus. The fault caused them to fill with water and fail. http://avherald.com/h?article=41a81ef1/0022&opt=

Crash in Buffalo, these flights. the a320 had a goose malfunction. and why is it such a big deal now? there were just as many crashes last year and the year before. if there are 20 major accidents in a year, and 20-60 flights an hour per major airport in the US and around the world, i think that's a pretty good ratio. i mean, imagine if there were only 20 fatal car crashes a year around the world, that would be phenomenal even in one state alone.
