DelawareT5M
Happy 4th of July everyone! now to begin with my problem on the 850 I left my parking lights on the other day and my batter died, so I got a jump from a friend. The thing is when my friend shut my hood he pushed down hard on passenger side corner. Now the passenger side latch is stuck shut, and the driver side latch won't lock down. My hood release is also acting up... it moves back and forth freely. Has anyone ever had this problem and does anyone have ideas on how to fix it? DonutsDemise
See if the cable is still attached to the handle on the release. I would try to pull the cable as far as possible to get it to release that latch. My handle also moves back and forth seemingly freely but the cable is attached to it and it works fine. Black Betty
have someone pull and push on the hood while you pull the handle.
DelawareT5M
none of this worked, it seems as if the release cable is stuck out all the way with the hood release. any more ideas?

holler1
It sounds like one of the cables is broken or loose from the catch. In theory you can stick your hand up from the bottom of the car and release the catches on both sides. When that happened with my AWD, I could not get my arm up far enough past the air pump. Probably the same problem with the R. A mirror on a stick and some kind of long "grabber" might work. In my case, I pried the edge of the hood up far enough to get a hacksaw blade in to saw off the u-shaped rod that goes into the catch. Don't do that unless you have to- I had to get it welded back. After I got into it, I added extra cables to the both side catches and brought them out below the radiator, so I have a backup release now. Good luck.
