Asinine
For those that don't know, I killed my 855 and sold it for pennies on the dollar to some dude on here. I do know exactly what dude it was sold to, just don't know the alias. Anyhow, for it's replacement I picked up a '04 XC70 2.5T AWD. From the inside, the car rocks, but I don't know if I love the outside. Obviously it's boring gold, and has silly little 16"s, but, for off the beaten path the big sidewall tires are great. So, here she is. Any suggestions? Tints are coming, I bent a rim and might do rims if there is an OEM rim that looks good (maybe 17" Altantis), but suggest away! I also made a little video for the first 1000km's of my ownership (more or less) and can be viewed here: <object width="400" height="300"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=4538031&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=&fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=4538031&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=&fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="300"></embed></object><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/4538031">1k Weekend</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/patrickmcmahon4">Patrick McMahon</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p> I used Animoto for the video - it's great. Where video was spliced in, I just added a text screen in Animoto, and swapped in video in iMovie (yep, I'm a Mac). <a href="http://animoto.com/?ref=jlhxmbpq"><img border="0" width="190" height="60" src="http://www.animoto.com/images/affiliates/animoto_190x60_04.jpg" alt="Animoto - The End of Slideshows"></a> Hope you enjoy!Well, obviously adding code doesn't work so well. Video is here! Animoto is here!
NGB
Hey, long time no see! Hows the new wagon treating you?
exexpat
lift it!
Asinine
The wagon is good so far. It's a work horse for sure. In I guess a month and a half I've added 12,000km going home to home doing energy audits. Very comfortable, and, though not as quick as the 855 T-5, there is always car there when you need it. Is lifting a relatively easy (kit) thing to do? I would be interested in doing that!?
norcal505
I used to whip one. had ALL the euro goodies. bought through t.d.s, buy my parents. transmission blew up 3 weeks ago while i was driving it, on a mountainous road, and i had to coast backwards, and forwards, till i found a flat spot. scary ****. if i was you, i'd do a manual tranny swap. it'd be cool, as i really don't know anyone else in the states with one. ersh
i would drop that... A LOT! haha. then put either 19" heicos or mesh wheel painted black with a polished lip. i wouldnt go with anything smaller than 19s though, cuz personally, i think they would look too small on an XC. Asinine
I do have to drive this thing. I'm not going to fan boy pimp it out just to be rare. I like the idea of a lift though, is it easy to reprogram the speedo for larger wheels?
ersh
lift kit would be cool too.. check this out...
RBoy8
Dude I haven't seen you post here in so long ahha. I think you sold you wagon to Graydon (fastboy) right? Get some 19" Vulcanis wheels for it! They're the rims that come on the XC90 R-Designs. Schweeeet. Are you going to the Ilderton meet?
Asinine
Yeah, Graydon is the 'lucky' new owner of the old 855. Any word on converting the Speedo for larger rims. I've talked to a guy who does vinyl wraps and for $2500 (coloured money) I could get it wrapped. Or, a house in Detroit!? LOLLERSKATES! eresh, is that a simple lift kit for the XC90, and Heico rims? volvo4lif3
why raise it? I would say lower it, maybe a nice subtle lower say w/ eibachs. Maybe rims from a new xc60 would suffice if you don't mind boreing em out. A guy on SS was selling some for cheap. http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=121335 they look pretty good...just an idear!
ersh
actually, i dont think hes got a lift kit, but yeah, those are 19" heicos with a tad bit thicker tires. looks good in my opinion. looks better in person.
