V70 Moldings Fit 850 Wagon

Yea, but the usefulness of a keyhole becomes apparent when you break or lose your remote. Yes you can unlock your car from the trunk, but that becomes a bit odd after a while

that or your batterie dies ................

So, rears are direct swap, fronts are direct swap, BUT, if you do want to keep your original key/lock set, how hard is it to swap that over? OR.. just use 2 pass side fronts and go keyless.

Have a locksmith rekey the x70 lock cylinder in the door handle to work with your key. It really is that simple. 850 and x70 use the same style key, despite the lock cylinder physically being different.

...or yeah, run two passenger side fronts and go keyless, like you said.

I'm running x70 handles and side trim on my 855. I rekeyed the lock cylinders in the door and liftgate handles myself, but ended up using two passenger front door handles and went keyless, mostly. Should my battery die in the car or the keyfob, I can still get in through the liftgate (yay wagon!). I kept the rekeyed x70 driver door handle though, it's sitting in my spare parts box. Should I ever sell the car the next owner will have the option of keyed or keyless.

As for the side trim, 850 trim is attached via clips, x70 trim is via 3M trim tape. The doors are identical so the trim fits perfect, but as was mentioned earlier in this thread the front fender pieces are different - 850 fender trim is longer than x70. So either retain (and paint) your 850 fender trim to match the x70 trim, or graft two x70 front fender trim pieces together.

What did you do, swap the tumblers over?

What did you do, swap the tumblers over?

Tumblers are different in the x70 lock cylinders vs the 850, but essentially yes that's what I did, after gathering up a couple spare lock cylinders from junkyard x70s to have various tumblers on hand just in case.

The liftgate lock cylinder, that was interesting - I didn't have to swap out any tumblers at all, just had to rearrange the existing tumbler positions in the x70 lock cylinder. I figure I got lucky on that one.

Going to be doing this in the next couple of weeks, think i'm going to start with the DS delete first, it will give me some time to play with the tumblers. I know the wife will want a DS key eventually, but for the time being she will have to send one of the kids in through the hatch if the batteries die, should be ok just replaced the baterries so...
