Massive Fuel Leak

I found the source, but need some confirmation. It's a hose running from the filler neck up and past both the pump and sender and into the top of the tank. I checked it with the ingnition on and it didn't seem to start leaking until I actually started the engine and then it began leaking about 10-15 seconds after startup.

From under the car near the fuel filler (passenger side)

Looking at the sender access where the hose connects to the tank

Now, the questions. What is this hose and has anyone replaced it? Part number? I assume I'll need to drop the tank to replace it, no? Also, I couldn't tell if the leak was from the hose itself or the fitting on the tank. If the tank, would JB make a good seal?

Thanks in advance.

I think this is the overfill tube that needs to be replaced on the 850's. Do a search. it's not your take but the tube. it get's dry rotted and no longer provides a good seal. If you were to use glue I'd use something that's chemically inert to gasoline. However that's not a common practice to use glue. Just replace the tube.

Yes your tank will need to be dropped. Not a big job. Just make sure you are on E or a few gallons left before you drop it, it will be less heavy and more manageable. Back your car up on some ramps, use a floor jack with a piece of wood across the basket so you get even pressure on the plastic gas tank, use it to hold the tank up while you remove the steel straps. And then lower the jack slowly till you get enough room to work on top.

It's 4 bolts to remove the straps.

This pic is a 98 S70 slightly different in hose routing but this is what you should expect when you do it.
