MBT
My car has had a hard time shifting in reverse for the last few months. It literally jumps when I switch into reverse, but then goes just fine. This happens every time with few exceptions (mostly when I roll back in neutral first). Has anyone else had this problem? What's the issue here? How can this be fixed? Thanks, Mike P.S. the car is a '95 850 GLT.

--Aaron--
Sounds like some permanent damage has been done to the transmission. How's your trans. fluid? If it's dark and/or smells horrible you might try a flush.......flushing isn't a bad idea either way IMO and is unfortunately all that can really be done. You don't roll in Neutral and hit Drive before you completely stop or anything funky like that do you?

I know it has not been replaced it a while.

Cool.....I have a friend that was popping into drive while rolling and not completely stopped and this happened to him, trans. clunks a little when going into D or R as if a motor mount was shot......even after a flush. Like I said whatever's done to the trans. is done. Flushing will only help temporarily avoid the unavoidable.

MBT
ENGINE MOUNTS!!!! How are the condition of your engine mounts? Upper Torque Rod Firewall Mount Trans to Subframe Mount Crank/Engine Pad Mount to Subframe I've replaced all in the past... few years in the past. I guess I'll have to get underneath and find out for myself. However, why would that only happen sometimes and not all the time if it is about the engine mounts? pwebb
+1 on the mounts. it can seem like its random... this may be due to the face that the slack allows the drive train to be in various positions... some that cause more noise and shift shock than other times... Does it happen when engine is hot?? mine happen when temp is hot, and noticed that when the it rainy or when engine is cool, the shift is smooth, I added an oit cooler (ATF) , that helped about 90% of the time now.
