atefitty
I was proud of how dry my 850 with 139K was underneath. Yesterday I saw a puddle of oil on the garage floor so I put her in the air and the rear main gave up the ghost....damn
TBM
You sound convinced it's the RMS , so my comment might not be useful but...double check everything. A rear cam seal (easy fix) can sometimes cause a leak all the way down and it might appear that it's coming from the RMS.
Oreo931
I'm no mechanic, but I've never heard of a rear main seal just "taking a dump." Usually it will be leaking for a while before it does that. How is your PCV system?

I agree... clean off as much oil as you can down there... heck... hit with a hose and let it dry overnight... then when it is dry down there take it for a drive for about 5 mins then look under the car while it is on and in Park with e-brake on and see where the oil starts from

Again...It doesnt work like that. It could be your rear cam seals, have you checked those?
Gilhuly
Rear cam will leak right where the wep hole for the RMS is. If you haven't done your PCV yet, its time. Maybe you have blown the RMS, but it had some help from somewhere.
PsychoWagon
There is no pressure/smoke from my dipstick..I think it was just time for it to go. lol, does your thumb tell you that? anything above .1 kpa is BAD. if you can feel that, god send for cars. Go to the dealer and have it checked, it'll cost you $50 bux and they hook up a pcv gauge that reads volvo specs.

Usually it will be leaking for a while before it does that. How is your PCV system? I have 139K and never serviced the PCV but I don't have noticeable blowby from the dipstick..I realize I do need to replace the system so I will do so before replacing the RMS Again...It doesnt work like that. It could be your rear cam seals, have you checked those? Motor is bone dry uptop looking from underneath toward rear cam seal area.. lol, does your thumb tell you that? anything above .1 kpa is BAD. if you can feel that, god send for cars. I've seen Volvo's with blocked PCV systems, they can blow the dipstick right out the tube and you can see combustion gases from the crankcase coming out...Don't need my thumb for that.. MikeH
Motor is bone dry uptop looking from underneath toward rear cam seal area.. You cant visually see a leak from the rear cam seal from the top side unless you start removing stuff. Stuff a paper towel under real seal next time you go for a drive. Then pull it out.. If its oil.. then you have your answer on that one.
