Guest mkm661
The passenger low beam headlight on my 2000 S40 recently went out and I am at a loss to fix the problem. It is not the bulb. I have confirmed that the fuse has 12 volts supplied (also, it is not blown). I checked the voltage on the breakout harness that attaches to the headlamp unit (3 wire not the 2 wire to the headlight) and found that the voltage is way low. It ranges from 11 - 4.5 volts. There have been times when I am measuring it and actually see the voltage drop. Also, really do not think that there is an issue with the body harness. So I am thinking that it is between the body harness and the fuse. There is a relay that controls the headlights, right? I have the 1999 Haynes but it is written for the British variant. Also, I am not sure whether or not there were any wiring revisions for 2000. I have tried the relays found under the IP but none of them control the lights (as observed with the driver light staying on. I am at a loss on this one and was wondering if anyone has any ideas or has had this before.
