Guest needyerhelp
I bought a used 99V70, got two keys for it. Neither can be fully inserted, but ignition rotates and functions correctly. I cautiously inserted a key-width pointed object, which went fully in. I'm not sure if spraying lubricant can be safely done, and I'm fearful that my steering-wheel will lock while driving (!) if the key should slip out. I need advice, and not from the dealer, who surely has a $olution.
mikus
Ehhh... I can't speak to 1999, but I know in 1998 and earlier cars, once you turn the cylinder past "OFF" it's unlocked regardless if a key is in there or not.

This disturbingly means that my car can be stolen with a screwdriver or nailfile--key needed merely for opening the door... And there's no 'chime' warning that the key is in the ignition, either. What about graphite or silicon sprayed in--will that 'short' the electrics ?
