fasts60r
Hello all...not posted in a while. Anyhow, I am hopefully very soon (finally really) to be putting some pegs on my xc. It's a 2000 and my question is, the existing wheels it has are the 16 inch pleaid (it's an se)...what are their offset? Will 5 mm speacers all around do the trick you think? I gotta button this thing down...it's like piloting a walrus down the street right now. Sways would help a lot, but so will some sticky tires I think. I thought new shocks and R springs in the front would help...I am sure they did but pretty sure it's still damn sloppy from my point of view. Anyhow, thanks in advance! Mike fellow '00 xc se owner here... the pleaids are 16x6.5, +43mm offset. are we talking about 17" pegs or 18" pegs? the 18" ones will clear w/out any spacers. the 17" ones will either need 5mm spacers or you can opt to have the protruding bolt on the rear trailing arm ground down a bit. "lookforjoe" has a nice picture of where the bolt protrudes somewhere.
fasts60r
Thanks! I will probably go the route of same spacers just to be more kosher. But I will look up that thread as well...just in case.

NEU
Mike, I still have the R sway bars if you are interested in them. Along with Poly bushings and HD endlinks will make it better. But the stock tire sidewall is always going to be your soft point... Unless you pump up the tire pressure or get a tire with a really stiff sidewall, that will help a little. By the way what struts you using? Bilstien HD would stiffen up the front a TON! They did for me when I was running the stock R springs with Satelites 16" rims and had 5mm spacers all around. Big Will
Poly bushings and HD endlinks would be a nice addition to that XC SE. They handle pretty well with the SE package all things considered.
lookforjoe
Either wheel will need 5mm spacers if you don't want the fronts to rub on the inner fender liner. A stated, 17" pegs need the rear mount bolt through the trailing arm shaved. becuase they are 38 offset/8" width, they sit very close to the strut tube .. but they do clear. 18"'s You will need either 235/45x17 or 235/40x18 to match the rolling diameter, and to be wide enough for the 8". If you put R springs in the front, you need them in the back, also - otherwise, you just increase the fore/at rake - the R springs are shorter. Just get TME spring set & be done with it - you'll be much happier with the handling....
