Fallsey
hello fellow Volvo owners, i thought i would start a topic for anyone with questions to their installs. I installed 2 12" Rockford Fosgate subs, with 600 watt amp 2 channel amp, as well as Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD Head unit. I also did the bypass for this unit, rather than installing the unit to the Parking brake. future work to be done, are front 2 door speakers will be replaced, and hooked up to the amp, rear 2 deck speakers will be replaced with 6x8" 4ohm speakers run in series to "fake" the 8ohm factory amp. Pioneer head unit installed, a little bit of work needed to do this, made a bracket to hold it in place, and also had to cut the trim piece by 1/8" all around to get to fit. overall clean look. Apple cable is used for hookup to my iphone. I ran the cable down to the first opening in the console, then made a small notch just beside the parking brake to my phone holder, which is epoxied in place. This is the bypass switch for the Pioneer DVD, to watch dvd/some settings while driving. i just really didnt want to hook this up to the ebrake so i took the alternative. works like a charm. installed into one of the spare slot covers. Here is my 2 12" Rockford Fosgate subs, and 600w Sony xplod 4 channel amp. I will be hooking the front speakers up to this soon enough. It isnt a 1000w system, but it hits HARD. i had to eliminate trunk rattle by taking apart trunk lid(plastic) around licence plate and filling empty gaps with dynamat. Chilled man
I have that same headunit for my 01XC not a fan of the trim kit or the mounting kit for it . I bought some aftermarket ones for it and they should be here sometime this week ....
Fallsey
yeah, i know what you mean, mounting kit or lack of one. I had to cut my previous single DIN sleeve, drill holes in the sleeve, then mount it to the head unit. i also had to shave the rails on the factory opening to squeeze that sucker in. it just didnt look good without the trim on it, so i cut it to fit the opening. there is only a little section on the top that can be seen. Sully83
Hey Fallsey, First off GREAT setup, i have been eyeing that head unit for my 99S70, but im still running with an older pioneer deck. Just a quick question/clarification about something you mentioned... What were you saying about "fooling the factory amp" by running the back deck speakers in series? I just spent a few hours installing a set of infinity 6x9's and i want to make sure i am running them properly... thanks man, again... AWESOME system! cheers
