854TGA+
I have hooked up a known good working 6 pack cd player / when I select cd changer / error EEEE is displayed and cd player fails to work. Any ideas, cd player worked with two previous factory Volvo radios just fine. Second issue / install single cd into player / fails to work. Displays track 1 then ejects / prior to ejecting you can select different tracks but with same results fails to play and just ejects the cd. crazykn
If you've hooked up a aftermarket (such as Alpine) CD Changer, the SC-815/816 will not be able to directly drive it. The reason behind this is that Volvo wanted you to buy their Volvo CD Changer and to do this, they require the headunit to get additional data signals from the CD Changer. To overcome this, there are products such as one from Blitzsafe to adapt the aftermarket CD Changer to the SC-815/816. I discovered this a long time ago when I tried directly wiring up my Alpine CD Changer to a SC-816 and it too gave me a EEEE message.
854TGA+
Thank you for the info! Funny thing, the adapter costs more than the POS radio. LOL Ok so that solves one issue, any insight into the single disc player issue?
84 Blue 240
I too am having the disc eject issue. I hit the CD button to switch from the radio to a CD that was already ejected. It flashed "EE" and then ejected the disc. Since then, no discs will play. My car is a 1998 Volvo S90. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this issue? Matthew's Volvo site had a guy with a similar issue. He said that he remembers someone mentioning the unit being stuck in "reject mode" but couldn't remember how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the old thread bump.I thought I would also mention that I tried the fix of pushing the little microswitch and tried cleaning the laser with a Q-tip. Neither helped even a little.
84 Blue 240
So, I let the unit sit unplugged overnight and put it back in this morning. The first time I put the CD in, it spit it back out, but the second time it took it and played for about 2-3 minutes before stopping and showing code "EE" again. I hit eject and got the CD back. Second issue was resolved by playing only store purchased cd's? Go figure it doesn't like burned cd's?
