Mossback Posted September 28, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 28, 2009 Final schedule and things to note: First Ever All-Swedish Meet to benefit Doernbecher's Children's Hospital When: Oct. 3 (Saturday) Where: IKEA Portland (see specific times below) 10280 NE Cascades Parkway Portland, OR 97220 PIR - Portland International Raceway 1940 N Victory Blvd Portland, OR 97217-7724 Time: IKEA: 10:00 a.m. (IKEA would prefer no one arrive before 9:30 a.m.) PIR: 1:00 p.m. (start of official show, raffle, and vendor booths) PIR: 6:00 p.m. (start of drag racing) Entrance Fees: - IKEA: None - PIR Entry: $5 per person (kids 15 and under free), $5 per car to show (in other words, if you want to show your car, you pay $10 total). Raffle tickets: $1 each or 7 for $5. - PIR Drags: If you've already paid to get into PIR for our event, there is no additional charge (normally $8) to spectate. If you want to race, it's $25 to race ($35 if you do not already hold a PIR annual "race pass"). Prizes for the show are donated by IPD, The V Shop, Northwest Paintless Dent Removal, H-M Motorsports, and others. Be sure to visit the vendor's booths in the corral areas! NOTE: Proceeds from entrance fees collected and the raffle will be donated to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital in Portland. Schedule of Events: 10:00 - 12:00 - Meet at IKEA Cars are parked in sections according to type (Volvo/Saab). Note: voting ballots and windshield placards will be distributed later on at PIR. Please take a minute to have some brunch or early lunch to thank IKEA for supporting our event. 1:00 – 5:00 – Show & Shine at PIR If you are a vendor or are showing your car you are more than welcome to start arriving as early as 10AM). Parking will be designated on the grass (same place as Portland Historic Races). People will be on hand to direct folks to the designated area. Those who choose to show their cars will receive a windshield placard that has a number on it. Everyone will receive a ballot for voting. 2:00 - 4:00 – Judging. Categories: 1. Best Volvo, 2. Best Saab, 3. Best in Show. Please submit your ballots by 4:00! 4:30 – Announcement of winners and distribution of prizes with raffle following. Vendors to start packing up as preferred. 5:00 – Show ends. There are a number of restaurants in the area. Food is also available at PIR starting at 6pm. 6:00 - Drag racing at PIR begins Those who will be spectating do not need to pay any additional fees. Those who are drag racing must re-enter the park and pay the drag racing entrance fee. This portion of the day's event is completely separate from all the earlier festivities! Prizes for "Fastest Volvo" and "Fastest Saab" will be awarded via mail or available for pickup. Awards will be based on the single-fastest run of the night by the respective drivers. NOTE: You must have a verified timeslip in order to qualify! Event Rules: - No vandalism of any kind to IKEA or PIR property, or any of the vehicles at either of the locations. Clean up after yourselves! - No speeding above the posted speed limits on both properties or on the streets surrounding the locations. - If you choose to participate in any type of group cruise between the two locations, please observe all traffic laws! - No "displays of horsepower"... Translation: no burnouts! Revving engines is okay as long as it is not deemed to be disturbing the public. Same goes for loud stereos. This is particularly important at IKEA. - No alcohol consumption... this is the ground rules for both the IKEA and PIR properties. No exceptions to this policy. - Obey designated officers and/or event volunteers. They are there for everyone's safety and the success of the event!
