I have 5000K w/ 3000K fogs....I had 6000k and like the white in the 5K better. They work great with the jewels and I'm not sure who got the idea HIDs and jewels don't mix.......if you put jewel lenses on regular housings....no that sucks for everyone on the road.

i'd stick with 35w.

i had 4300 and then switched to 6000. i love the look of the 6k.

lighting was def. better with the 4300.

i don't get anybody flashing me and i have jewels also.

this was 35w 4300k. what else could you need.

Thanks Mike. I love the white color of HID 4300k but it truly does seem to provide a little less distance that the silverstars I had before them. The white is so much easier on the eyes and strain when doing alot of night driving IMO.

I'm thinking about trying the silverstars one more time before I go HID on the new Jewels just so I can say I tried. Not 100% sure though since I realy like the white. Are the 6k that much nicer than the 4300k Mike?

by the way, I'm getting the jewel entire headlight assemblies from Waltrip for $250 per side including the corners.....also changing to the eggcrate 2003 grill while I'm at it. woohoo.

That is not bad! When did they lower their prices? When I asked sometime last year, they went for around $700 for everything.

Paul when driving, the light on the ground really isn't super blue, its still pretty white. a person coming towards you def. sees a bluer tint.

i personally like the 6k.

You shouldn't go with HIDs.

Stick with halogen or install projectors smile.gif

If you insist on getting HIDs, knowing full well that they will cause poor light dispersion, blind other drivers, and break the law...

5000K

+1000 Ive got hids in my jewels and im very dissappointed

They look good but while driving the light focus sucks. Its like looking at a start on the ground with all the angles cast

5000 isnt a real HID....its a mock HID, no ballast is needed...6000+ is where real HID starts..

6000k hid is 3 times brighter than regular lights, and light up more area...NGB I have no idea where you get your info but 50% of what youve said is wrong.

EDIT : 5000k require ballast but still dont really achieve what 6000+ doez

Seriously, where did you get your information? Around 4300k can be considered the only REAL HID. They are the HID temperature that is OEM on BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Bentley, Ferrari...etc.. Go and tell them that they are using "mock HIDs." Philips, an OEM manufacturer of real HID bulbs, (not the Chinese crap) makes 5000k bulbs, but I do not believe that they are OEM in any cars.

An HID capsule in a halogen housing will never light up more area than the halogen lamp it is designed for. (Assuming that you are aiming the lights to DOT spec.)

What exactly does 6000+ K achieve, other than putting out LESS lumens than 4300k?
