Long Story...I was swapping the pioneer deck out of my 97 t5 into my 98XC. I tried to rewire it in, but failed...Then I tried to wire the old one back in and I somehow messed that up. So I have a rats nest and no working radio. Does anybody have a picture of the wiring or some advice?

thats the wiring assignment for the 850 stereos, i think the 98xc is the same. Pioneer lists the pinouts on it's site. If you can't figure out what the outputs on the 98 stereo are based on the 850 and the car/headunit you prolly should call in some help before you fry the HU. What was in the XC beforehand?

The car side wiring is spread across the two main connectors:

Power and dash speakers on the A connector,

Speakers on the B connector. (the speed signal is also on the B connector)

Use a meter to confirm power first:

Constant Power-------Green/Brown x2 = Pins A4 & A12

Switched Power-------Yellow/Violet = Pin A13

Ground---------------Black x 2 = Pins A6 & A14

Illumination---------Pink = Pin A10 (varies with dash lights)

Antenna power amp----Blue/White = Pin A3 (VERY important for radio...)

Speed Signal---------Yellow/Black = Pin B7 (you probably don't need this)

Dash L+ - Red/White = Pin A1

Dash L- - Yellow/White = Pin A2

Dash R+ - Yellow/Green = Pin A7

Dash R- - Green = Pin A8

Door FL+ - Green/White = Pin B4

Door FL- - Green/Brown = Pin B3

Door FR+ - Red/White = Pin B9

Door FR- - Red/Black = Pin B10

RL+ - Brown/White = Pin B2

RL- - Brown/Black = Pin B1

RR+ - Pink/White = Pin B5

RR- - Pink/Black = Pin B6

Dash and doors are connected in parallel.

Antenna Connector? Just use the one that fits the Pioneer. The Big One.

Now, repeat after me:

Always use a wiring adapter!

Always use a wiring adapter!

Always use a wiring adapter!
