OniFactor
haha, i'm actually wanting to do houndstooth. i know yours is vinyl, though, right?
RZT5
dont see why not... i would think the only difficulty would be making sure it was completely soaked in whatever resin/epoxy you are using so that there are no air bubbles. this is an interesting idea, especially for the X70 interior trim panels. the wood ones are plastic with a very thin wood veneer on the surface, so if you pulled off the wood and then replaced it with a fabric and resin of some sort and trimmed the edges you could have yourself some pretty cool interior trim. OniFactor
okay, what would people rather see, tan/brown twill, tan/burgundy houndstooth, yellow kevlar, or shall i rip off the burberry? (lol, kidding. won't be exactly burberry) okay, what would people rather see, tan/brown twill, tan/burgundy houndstooth, yellow kevlar, or shall i rip off the burberry? (lol, kidding. won't be exactly burberry) forgot to mention, this is gonna be for mirror covers, some interior bits, and engine accents, on a dark grey metallic (not sure of volvos exact color code/name) 850 sedan. OniFactor
Way to be original but of course. lol eventually, if i can get a wide enough bolt of material, i'm gonna see about doing it to a hood, as well.. but definitely gonna be the TB cover, spark plug cover, interior side view mirror covers (the triangular bit on the doors), and possibly rear view mirror cover.. if i can get it seperate from the glass. Che'_Moderator
Careful with the material. Resin will strip the dye out of my fabrics unless properly treated
OniFactor
all resins do that? or would certain resins not do it as bad?
Che'_Moderator
all resins do that? or would certain resins not do it as bad? Epoxies do it a lot less but you still need to prep fabric thats not color fast
