Guest Brickwagon
<_< The original factory-installed audio system in my wagon is great except for the am radio portion. It has static, and I am a news/sports listener. On the rear of the wagon is a cap to install an antenna. Is the car set up to install a power antenna once I remove the cap? Or can I install a manual antenna? Does Volvo sell both? Is the wiring apparatus factory-installed for connections?Thanx for any comments or suggestions. orange850t
Unless I am mistaken the wagons only are wired for the antenna in the rear drivers side curtain window. I haven't seen one with a standalone antenna. Mine does this as well, I haven't gotten around to checking and cleaning all of the antenna connectors. jross
Ditto for mine.. I thought it was just the radio, but my aftermarket HU doesn't want to do AM either. But, I'm usually listening to CDs anyway, so....
JehovArob
My car (sedan) had really bad AM reception with the stock unit. Got to listen to the engine rev instead of the news or whatever. My new, aftermarket deck has great AM reception. But, I can't stand the radio, and listen to CDs... Guest Brickwagon
<_< I am also beginning to think it is an inherent static trait with the volvo am reception. My 1995 960 wagon had the exact same problem!!!Is there a way to boost the reception without getting a new aftermarket unit??? ;)
