Volvo Code Readers

<br />I received my ELMSCAN 5 USB and after a few minor hiccups it works fine. So if you have a 2000 S70 GLT and don't want to look thru all of the hyperbole, the Elmscan5 should work fine for you.<br />
<br /><br /><br />

so what does it read and reset?

My launch x431 can get into ABS/CCM/SRS/TCU/ECU/KEYLESS/INSTRUMENT on my 99xc70,01 c70, and 02 xc70...this was just the volvo line up. tried it on a merc ml320 1998, 03 honda accord, 05 acura rl, ect ect.....but this was also $2000.

How much was it? If there is a scan tool for only the volvos it would be great for under $200.

I'm keeping my BSR PPC in the S80 at all times now. I was messing around with some stuff and unplugged the cam position sensor so I wouldn't accidentally bust the connector. Threw code ECM-3000 (internal fault) but by that time I had completely forgotten about unplugging it. Car wouldn't start. So I cleared code and she fired right up and I went for a 20 miles drive before I remembered what I had done. I didn't even get a check engine light! I guess the Bosch ECM compensated somehow. Wouldn't rev much over 3000 rpm but it ran. I couldn't believe it.

http://www.ppc-diagnostic.com is a steal for US$200.

can this unit go into the tcu or ecu and reset adaptives?

can this unit go into P2 cars and check codes on the CEM or CCM?

Too bad it doesn't work for all Volvos. I have a 99 S70, does not work with it, based on their website:

Vehicle coverage

PPC Diagnostic System works with all Volvo from 2001-2007.

Exceptions:

S80 1999-2006 works

S80 D/D5/TDI 1999-2000 does not work

C70 98-05 does not work

S/V40 96-04 does not work

I have the PPC rig, and it will work for your car. I used it on a friend's XC70, 99 or 00, and it worked fine. Just has to be one of the cars with the ME7 ECU. I.e., drive by wire, no actual throttle cable, but an electrical connection between throttle pedal and the ECU, and then to the ETM.

The manual is a bit off because it doesn't mention the S70's or my S60, but they definitely work on these cars. Just 99 or later.

Thanks for the info, yes my car has ME7, drive by wire.

anyone here tried this one?

volvo scanner diagnostic live data 1.3

Hi,

I am pretty sure this is the same as the thing I bought from here:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270469098539

which is one of these:

http://www.ilexa.co.uk/content/category/2/2/19

which has been cracked and hacked no doubt. If you have a vehicle listed in Ilexa's Model and System coverage list then I'd guess it'll work for you. I wanted it for my 1999 V70 2.5 non turbo, front wheel drive and it did not work. I've also got a 1997 V40 2.0 non turbo, fwd and it kind of works for that (that vehicle is listed in their guide).

That chipset reference sounds very dodgy to me as well, the chipset for OBD tools is usually ELM 327 series. Mine has a couple of very simple RS 232 converters in it.

I found this tool to be more frustration than it was worth, however it doesn't cost much and if it is specified for your vehicle it might be worth the effort.

Best regards
