So I bought this from sonic electronix last night. I got it for 369, shipping, harness and install kit all included! Right now im running a 850 watt amp with a 2 farret lightning cap and 2 12's, all off the factory head unit. Other than running RCA cables off my amp to the deck,(glad to get rid of the rca converters) what else should i be ready for? Im hoping the factory amp does not pose a problem, as this unit is suppose to have as much power as the factory amp(50wx4)

Am i going to have to individually wire each speaker up, or will this be pretty simple?

Thanks guys. Ill be throwing a APEX AVC controller in next week too, THATS going to be fun for sure!

They have the specific harness's in stock, so I guess thats what I'll get. Its what I got with the one i bought for my wife's Aviator(Got her a Pioneer for even cheaper from them!)

Okay I just got done running new RCA cables from the head unit to the trunk and I remembered why i was worried. When my factory amp shorted out, i had no sound what so ever. NO power to the head unit, no music, nothing. WHats going to happen when i go to hook up my new unit and i cant plug in the connector in the back for the amp? Will the new unit's built in amp overcome my worries? Am I worried about nothing? I saw the harness they are sending me and it looks like it will hook right up to the ones in my car, but im worried that when i get it, the unit will come on, but i will get no sound to the speakers, since all i am getting is the plastic harness(nothing to adapt to the amp, it will just be sitting there taking up space) If this is the case, whats the easiest way to bypass the factory amp? This thing will be here friday, and i get off work early that day and I would like to drive my car to work on Saturday(which is tradition for me since i only drive this car on the weekends).

Just tell me this wont end up being a 5 hour job. Im excited to get rid of the RCA inverter because I know my system will sound awesome after this is all done. Then when my APEXi AVC-R gets here(and i get that nightmare of a install taken care of) my car will be freakin awesome to me once again!

K, just FYI, i hooked up my factory head unit, without plugging in the amp and the unit came on, but no sound came out at all. Is this going to be the case when i put my new unit in Friday?? Am i going to have to bypass the amp or get a adapter to hook the factory amp up? The whole reason i got this unit is because the amps it put out was the same as the factory amp i have in there now.

Just trying to set myself up for a easy install friday when my new CD player gets here. Ive always been afraid of this problem.

I have the same HU in my 96 R I spliced the harness that came with the radio to an adapter harness and plugged it in and it worked. There is a power harness and a speaker harness. Its the same as any other car just hook it up trim the rails mount the cage and put it in

If you had the amp with the original stock system, ( the 6 pin DIN connector)

your speaker connector is buried in the dash behind the radio, wrapped up in foam tape.

At this point, it should still be plugged into the original amp's speaker output cable.

Find it, unplug the amp cable and connect your speaker wiring adapter.

I've got a pic at home. If you need it, lemme know. I'll post it this evening.

Yeah, I plugged it in last night, all power, no sound. Pulled my haynes manuel out and looked at the wire diagrams, pretended to know what i was looking at for about 15 minutes, than i noticed the other plugs in the back. Unplugged them there, plugged them into my new harness and bam, sound came on!

Wish i had seen your post before last night. Might have saved me 30 minutes.
